machine powers up but no picture.works on external - 2009/03/16 16:30 hi there.
so my laptop will power up but there is no backlight on the lcd.if i shine a flashlight on the display i can see a very faint picture and it works when connected to an external display.i tried reseting the pmu and the pram...didn't help.i tried booting off the system disc and the screen stayed black.i'm thinking i am looking at the lcd backlight being shot.any experts wanna chime in on my situation.many thanks in advance.

Re:machine powers up but no picture.works on exter - 2009/03/17 16:30 As you can see the image when you use a torch, backlight for sure. Do a Google search for your model laptop and replacing backlight.

If so there are two possible reasons. One is the cable is bad and the other could be the common problem of solder joints coming loose on the video chip (on motherboard) Both are fixable but a royal pain to do.
