Re:Powerbook G4 and iPod 160GB - 2007/12/28 20:14Great new toy and you can't even use it ? Bummer....
All of the new video iPods per Apple specs say's your Mac needs OS 10.4.8 or later. And it says you need a USB 2.0 port but your older Powerbook has USB 1.1. That may also be a problem but a lot of things that require USB 2.0 will work on USB 1.1, just slower.
You will need to buy an OS 10.4x (upgrade at Apple to 10.4.8) install DVD to use the new iPod unless there is some kind of hack for OS 10.3. If the iPod will not work in USB 1 you can always buy a USB 2.0 PC card to go in the card slot.
Your Powerbook should handle OS 10.4.8 OK. You can buy new or used OS install DVD and do the OS upgrade on your Powerbook and it should work. If not, you'll need USB 2.0.
I would also Google around for a possible OS 10.3 hack to get it running on yoru current OS.
First check the iPod Q&A section of this site (link on left side of page) for more iPod info.
And I would also post a question in the iPod site:
