update made i.p. address disappear, no internet... - 2007/12/20 09:26 Hey,
First time on here, glad to see its helping many...
My friend has a G4, 12" powerbook with osX.
She did Software Update, and it did some update to the
security feature,
and now she can't get online.
It recognizes the Airport and sees the correct account,
but can't connect.
I looked at it, but not an expert, can't figure out the right settings.
It says she doesn't have an I.P. address, it's just blank.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
caleb

Re:update made i.p. address disappear, no internet... - 2007/12/20 10:25 I read about several problems with the latest update at

http://www.macfixit.com

There are several solutions posted depending on your circumstances.

Good luck!

Re:update made i.p. address disappear, no internet - 2007/12/20 10:26 In the Network Preference Pane, is the TCP-IP protocol set to receive the IP automatically via DHCP? If not, set it to that, and make sure that the Airport base station is set to deliver IP addresses that way too, i. e. as a DHCP server.
