Emac and hard drive woes - 2009/10/31 10:08 Hi All, I have and eMAC G4 1.42Ghz/512MB/80GB COMBO taht the hard drive finally gave out on. I did try repairing it with my Cd's but to no avail so . . . I decided to take it apart.
I found all the manuals and how to's from apple and Ive done PCs for years so i figured 'how hard could this be?'
Indeed.
Well i got it apart just fine. dropped in a new hdd, put it all back together and then turned it on. Nada. just the dunk sound the CRT makes when it goes on, no boot nothing. So i take it apart again to check i put everything back as according to the manuals and get the DIL connector right, back together and still nein.
*heavysigh*
now the darn thing worked before i got my grubby paws on it so does anyone have any ideas as to where i might have missed something??
I used these links to get info :
http://home.earthlink.net/~strahm_s/manuals.html
and the Lance J techno web
All proper grounding procedure were followed etc
Thanks
