Is that how it is reported when there is 2MB of ram? I looks like there was only 1MB added rather than the 2.

Re:ram upgrade iMac G4 1.25/20" - 2009/07/08 16:46No it is not.
What does 'About this Mac' say on the opening window? It should report how much memory is installed. If it also reports 1GB contact the dealer and advise them of your problem. Could be a simple oversight.
You know how it is when you are busy and the darn phone rings and you try to take up where you left off?

the installer said he installed two 1GB but it would not show more than 1GB even though it's there.
sounds like I'll have to lug the "sunflower" back 65 miles to the shop. maybe he didn't seat the ram properly?
thanks, karen

Re:ram upgrade iMac G4 1.25/20" - 2009/07/08 22:47Before you drive off anywhere, that machine may read 1GB as the maximum RAM regardless what is put in it.
Have a look at this link from Apple Support. If it is your model, then 1GB is it:-
You may have to take it up with your dealer by phone first.

Re:ram upgrade iMac G4 1.25/20" - 2009/07/09 12:48The System Profiler and About this Mac should both read the correct amount installed. When the iMac was first made there were only 512MB sticks available so Apple's specs will always list a lower amount after time and as RAM technology increases. Now 1GB sticks are available and your iMac should show 2GB in both the ASP and About this Mac.
So, either the shop didn't put two 1GB sticks in or one stick is not seated properly. Most likely one is not seated.
You could open the access panel on the bottom to check one stick but the other stick is buried deep inside the Mac. I would look at the easy to see stick and maybe it can be re-seated before driving all the way to the dealer.
There are guides online to help and EveryMac has a link in the specs for your iMac.
