Re:not sure if this problem is unique but... - 2009/04/17 17:29 Have a look around Craiglist and eBay and see if you can pick up the system restore discs for that precise model 600MHz G3. Should be OS 9.1 and about X.1.

You may have to do a format of the drive and a clean install of both operating systems. When set up with OS X only on e has the option of installing OS 9 drivers, or not.

What you are describing sounds typical of an install without the OS 9 driver. Also check out the memory and see if an upgrade is needed. Maybe further improvement could include a 7200RPM hard drive.
