Re:PowerMac 9600/monitor problem - 2008/01/31 21:07 Glad to hear the problem has fixed with a simple RAM swap.

Macs can be really funny about RAM because the specs are so tight. I looked at my PTPro and all the RAM in it is OWC brand and I haven't ever had a problem with their products. And the customer service is top notch.

I'm not sure that flashed pc Radeon video card will run at all in anything before OS 9. It depends on what ROM was used to flash it I don't know if there would be any advantage of using the Radeon card over the OEM video card in System 7 or any System 7 apps. Running System 7 with 512MB of RAM should make the old 9600 fly. And the Sonnet g3 upgrade will really make System 7.6 fly.

System 7.6 was probably the most stable release of the old Mac OS's and there is still a lot of used software available cheap for System 7.

And you are welcome. Anything I can do to help and share some experience. EveryMac was a big help for me years ago when I was having a problem with my Mac and I just try to give back as much as I can.

But honestly you should thank Brock, not me. I couldn't do it without his hard work and dedication to this site.

Re:PowerMac 9600/monitor problem - 2008/03/31 20:13 Hay Krow, are you retired? You have a lot of time to help, you must be.
You are always here to answer.
You are our greatest help, sometimes I think Brock just keeps this site up for you.
But really, we owe you a lot of thanks!

Re:PowerMac 9600/monitor problem - 2008/04/01 00:36 I'm not the only one. This is a community effort, and I either have too much time on my hands, talk too much, or both ;-)

Seriously though, I am grateful to everyone who visits the forums for keeping it the way it should be. Maturity and good will seems to be seriously lacking in so many forums these days. And I am extremely grateful that the Everymac forums are void of the bickering, attitudes, flaming, trolling and all that crap that goes on in too many other Mac forums.

Frankly, it's disconcerting that I have something in common with some of the Mac users I have run across in other Mac forums.

This really is a nice place to visit.........
