I know it's terminated, because I hooked up a zip drive and set that thing to terminate, I don't know if the problem is the MIDI channel or not, because there's no way to set that with jumpers on the 230 Mb drive. I assume the default midi channel is 1, correct. But the powerbook is already using channel 1. grrrrr.

You need a unique SCSI address on that 230MB HD. There are jumpers on the drive to set it.
Mt. Everything is very handy to evaluate and mount SCSI devices.
