"Old Mac" to new Mac file sharing - 2009/01/08 14:28 I have to travel to Africa on Thursday 1/15/09 to work on a Mac network with an Agfa Imagesetter installed in the summer of 1994. The network still uses LocalTalk Cabling.

I have a MacBookPro and I need to be able not only to print on that network, but also to file share between my mac and the older ones. I believe that I will be accessing a MacClassic, Mac LC or LC II, and a PowerMac (one of the very first desktop powermacs - looked a bit like a IIsi). Only the PowerMac has an Ethernet Port so that mode of communication is something I will look at as a last resort using a cross-over cable. Can OX X Leopard communicate with System 7.0X using AppleTalk? I was told that I may be able to accomplish this by turning TCP/IP on in the MacBook and setting some sort of OS 9 compatability switch to "on". IS this true or am I screwed? Is there any way to accomplish this. I would REALLY appreciate an answer from someone soon.

My suggestion would be to try the Apple Discussion Forums on Apple's site:

Or a site like this dedicated to 68k Macs:

If there is a good answer you'll find it on one or the other.
