WinXP to a 6040Mac - 2007/10/21 16:44 I have just been given an HP Pavilion 7934 running WinXP (aagh!) and apart from leaving it to gather dust, I wiondered if it is possible to network it with an old Performa 630?
I have a DaynaPORT E/CS 10Base2 thinnet co-ax card for the 630 so could I get a similar card for the PC? Any way, is it possible???
I would like to have the PC look and add to an old database (Filemaker Pro) that is sitting on the 630 and then have it print out to an old Mac printer (4/600)
Any constructive comments gratefully received! ( I know, I Know...I tried refusing the offer of the PC but the donor was having none of it!!!)

Re:WinXP to a 6040Mac - 2008/01/25 11:12 You can get a 10baseT network card for the Performa cheap on eBay or LEMSwap on Google Groups and you could use regular network cat5 cables. It would be much easier than trying to get a similar connection working on the peecee.

You can get a Nubus or PDS slot ethernet card for the Performa and the drivers should be in the OS or easy to find if not.

Getting the Windoze machine to see the Mac may be tough. As far as I know you need third party software like Dave for Windoze and Mac OS to communicate over a network. But this is out of my area of "expertise" so I could be wrong.

Getting the peecee to print on the Mac printer may be even tougher.

First thing I would do is post the question on the 68kMLa forums where there are real 68kMac Gurus who really know these Macs and could help.

You could always sell the peecee, trade it for a Mac or gut it for parts. I usually just gut them for usable parts and recycle the remains.
