Re:macbook - video editing/animation? - 2007/02/12 13:27 MacBooks do not have a dedicated graphics card, but rather use shared video--not the best alternative for video editing. Since you're thinking of getting a black MacBook, figuring in education discounts, that comes to US$1400, and that includes 2 512 KB RAM sticks. For US$400 more, with educational discount, you can get a MacBook Pro with a decent graphics card and one 1 GB RAM stick, leaving the second slot open for more RAM. I know $400 is significantly more expensive, but it'll be worth it for what you want to do. Does your school have a loan program that allows you to pay off computer loans without interest penalty? You might want to investigate that possibility, at any rate.
