"Early 2008" Mac Pro's - 2008/03/09 09:46 Why are the Mac Pro's released in January 2008 referred to as "Early 2008" Mac Pro's?

Does this mean there will be "Mid 2008" Mac Pro's and "Late 2008" Mac Pro's coming out?

I suspect that there must have been another reason than the release date for naming these models this way.

Reason I'm asking? I'm in the market for a new Mac Pro and this naming convention tells me to wait to buy the next Mac Pro perhaps coming Mid-Year!

Re:"Early 2008" Mac Pro's - 2008/03/09 12:40 It most likely means there will be a revised Mac Pro this year. Why else would they use the designation ?

The early 2008's were probably originally supposed to be released in 2007 but as things sometimes go it didn't work out that way. And it will most likely be time for some new technology release by the end of 2008.

Who know what Apple's R&D has up their sleeves for the future.

It's usually best to avoid the first release of newer technology and wait for a revision in my opinion. The computer industry tends to always run behind on releasing stuff so they usually throw something together to get it out the door. Because they are usually already past their release date and have to release something asap. Software is even worse in this respect than hardware but they all do it, and it's probably even harder for Apple since they go it alone more or less.
